Gemynii

Gemynii is a self taught painter. She was born in 1985 in Honolulu, Hi and currently resides in Durham NC. She grew up in Trenton NC then graduated from Elizabeth City State University and University of Phoniex. Gemynii is a great music lover and a poet. This is mainly where she draws her inspiration from. Her art is inspired by the stories in others, music, energy, and her personal reactions to experiences or social situations. She paints with acrylic and likes to compose with collage. Gemynii has been drawing ever since the age of four and painting since October 2009. She began formally exhibiting her work as of January of 2013. Since that time Gemynii has shown work or performed live paintings in various venues include but not limited to Pitch Media Gallery in Raleigh, The Market Street Coffeehouse in Durham, Duke University Hospital in Durham, and Busboy & Poets in Hyattsville MD. In September of 2013, she became apart of an international art collective known as RAW. Gemynii has shown with RAW twice as a featured vistual artist within the recent months inside of Raleigh\'s Lincoln Theater and was recently recognized as a Director\'s Highlight at the 5th annual RAW awards. And she is also the current curator and host of Words of Wisdom, a spoken word poetry open mic and recently an artist spotlight Raleigh\'s very Oat City Hustle.
