Born in Kenya as Mwende Katwiwa, FreeQuency aka FreeQ tha Mighty is a spoken word artist hailing most recently from New Orleans, LA. The last-born daughter of two life long educators, FreeQuency has always appreciated the value of the written word and began performing spoken word in high school. Now in college, FreeQuency regularly performs her work in an effort to spread the word on social issues and the power of poetry. FreeQuency’s poetry has been described as dynamic, versatile, and thought provoking with a refreshingly needed message. She has been published in Multicultural Education Magazine, Sweet Lemon Magazine, is awaiting publication in \"Trayvon Martin, Race, and American Justice: Writing Wrong\" and has won several slams in the New Orleans and Washington D.C. areas. A regular performer on the WhoDatPoets scene, FreeQuency never leaves audiences unsatisfied when she gets on the mic. FreeQuency is also a producer for Tulane University\'s production of the Vagina Monologues, and is the chair of the Black Arts Festival at Tulane.
