Visual Art – Baltimore

It’s not who we are but what we do that matters, and what we do is try. Our selves are attempts – experiments, and our job – if we wish to live fully - is to try and to learn - to experiment and to evolve. I manifest this fundamental experimentation through that most experimental of industries – art – with the foundational tools of light, shadow, physics, mechanics, perspective, relativity, chance, embodiment, and learning, I make attempts, and while doing so, I learn, change, and leave vestiges; I manifest our shared experimental existence as morphing beings, leaving marks. I’m a This-Life lover. I feel an indebtedness to this world and to my life. I pay my debts by doing – working – making expressions that are part response and part cohesion-of-my-preceding-experience. I pursue understanding, clarity, authenticity, and, above all, freedom. I use physics and mechanics – our natural laws – to build these things in life and in paint. I have sacrificed everything in my life in order to make art, that which is a constant debt-paying and, somehow, both jailor and a pair of wings. Creating is my evolution, my love, my silent presence at the head of death.
