Visual Art – Charlotte
My name is Elizabeth Shanahan, and I am an artist in the Winston Salem area of North Carolina. I make abstract mixed media paintings inspired by nature.
I grew up in the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina, surrounded by the extremes of natural beauty – storms, forest, hills, lightning, sun, water, snow – everything that earth has to offer can be found on those ancient slopes.
To me, these wild places are divinity. They are sanctuary. They are home.
With color, form, and luminosity, with texture and mixed media, my work aims to echo the sense of security and divinity I feel in the creation of the universe.
I currently live in Lewisville, North Carolina with my husband, our daughter, a rescue dog whose main aim in life is never to move or do anything at all, and a rotating door of foster pets from Lee Shore Rescue.
