Visual Art – Miami

These figurative wood sculptures take hundreds of bass, balsa, cherry and walnut woods to create an expressive character locked in time and space. These sculptures take over one hundred hours to create with each piece pain staking cut by hand to fit exactly. This technique is a way to paint in wood and to sculpt by building. By respecting the aesthetic and structural qualities of the untreated wood, the end result is beautiful quality derived from nature. The light flowing through the space of the sculpture paints the figure in shadow on the wall behind and adds an ever changing depth and perspective as the viewer moves around the sculpture. I am born and raised Miami, and live in Miami Beach. I used my training in architectural modeling to break out of the box to build something complex and beautiful.
