Visual Art – Ottawa
Jacquelyn Trowell of Dragonfly Studio is self taught artist and gravitates towards a dynamic style. Art was her escape from the trials and tribulations of life. Born in Grants Pass Oregon and them moving to the Bay Area California at the age of 13, she honed her love of art and grew inspiration from the street artists in San Francisco. In 1991, Jacquelyn’s mother married a Canadian Naval Officer and soon after she moved with them to Ottawa Ontario after a brief stay in Victoria BC. In 2001, she enrolled in college and earned a degree in Graphic design. For the next ten years she barely drew as her budding new career was filling her creative needs.
Jacquelyn’s mother passed away in 2013 from ovarian cancer. In her grief, she turned back to her art which exploded with more raw emotion and refinement than it ever had before. Now, mostly working with oil, ink and watercolors, she has found her place and her healing while keeping an even balance as an artist, mother and graphic designer.
