Visual Art – Boston

I have always been interested in making something two dimensional seem spatial (pictorial space); creating an illusion with paint. In my work it is this space I want to create, either deep or shallow. I want the viewer to have to question the form and the space that surrounds it. I want to confuse them, but also strike them with a sense of realty. I often intertwine my love of flat geometric shapes with spatial forms to do just that; make the viewer wonder how the space works. At times I use the canvas’ limitations to fit my form into its box, but sometimes it needs to create its own space; outside of the typical square. Although I tend to dictate my every move in my paintings, once I graduated with a B.F.A in Painting, I ended with a new concept of how to create my images. I began to mess around with the planned out image on the board, and soon made it into something completely different. Currently as an artist this shift from the idea of play to my natural ability for structure, is what consumes my images/results.
