Visual Art – Minneapolis

Clarissa Odin, (Clare), is an oil painter who enjoys creating social narrative art, especially feminist portraiture. Depictions of women in contemporary culture and art historical contexts drive her work and need to generate conversations surrounding the visual representation of women. Through her paintings, Clare wants to reveal truth about the current struggles women face that are rooted in gender stereotypes and expectations. Her paintings focus on the intersection of empowerment and disempowerment, constructing a sense of defiance within confinement. Clare is influenced by Surrealism and Magic realism, which is evident in her expressive decisions to deviate from expected reality in her work. When not creating visual art, Clare is also a teacher, singer, and dancer. She has a deep passion for the visual and performing arts. Clare is thrilled to be featured in RAW artists interdisciplinary showcase.
