Cecile Swim by Charlotte Cecile Cheong

Fashion – Perth

My name is Charlotte Cecile Cheong and I'm currently 21 years old. I'm originally from Singapore but I moved to Perth, Western Australia at the age of 16 to pursue my studies. I'm currently doing a double major in Conservation and Wildlife Biology and Animal Health, with a minor in Social and Developmental Psychology. Much of what I study involves the environment which has exposed me to the negative impacts of the fashion industry. From the extensive use of plastic to toxic chemical runoffs in our oceans, I've learnt that things have to change in order for the Earth to sustain the biodiversity that exists in our environment. Towards my late teens, I started exploring ethical and sustainable clothing production lines. Being born and raised in Singapore, I spent majority of my childhood by the beach and engaging in watersports. To me, creating an ethical and sustainable swimwear label is a creative outlet - where my love for the environment and fashion meets. Cecile Swim was officially launched in November 2017. It has always been a top priority for me to provide my customers with durable and high qualty products using luxury fabric at high ethical standards. Cecile Swim produces limited quanities, supporting low production runs and quality pieces so that tailors are able to work in an environment which they feel comfortable in. I also make visits to the Cecile Swim factory to guarantee transparency, fair wages and that the rights are met for all workers. Each piece has been designed for maximum comfort as I feel that evert girl should love their body and feel confident in it.
