Visual Art – Phoenix

Kelly Etchason is primarily a contemporary surrealist artist native to Arizona. She has been exhibiting and selling her work since 2008. While retaining a deep appreciation and affinity for Arizona history and nature, her work is generally far removed from traditional southwest themes of cowboys, Native Americans, and cactus filled desert landscapes. She is influenced by music, nature, her global travels, and her personal relationships. Her work usually features an element of surprise or an unexpected juxtaposition. “I use visual art as an outlet primarily because I’m inept at expressing my emotions or thoughts sufficiently with words. I love to draw or paint something in a pretty realistic way, but then tweaking it just enough to be fantastical, whimsical, or dark and strange. I like the notion of manipulating the mundane.” She is mostly a self taught artist working largely with Acrylics on canvas or panel. However, she also uses pen and ink, graphite, colored pencil, watercolors, and pastels, clay, and other media. Original works and prints are available for purchase through brokinart.com
