B Robinson

Visual Art – Baltimore

Bryan \"Grasshopper\" Robinson is Baltimore born artist that as of recent has began to illustrate the universe as he see\'s it in a fresh new format. Robinson is a mixed media artist known for his creative eye behind the camera as a independent filmmaker and director for Grasshopper Philms. The style of each piece displays a somewhat Comic style with an unconventional interpretation of African American culture, common trends, life lessons, memories and whatever matter that happens to linger in the mind of Robinson as he strolls through the streets of city. Few know that Robinson has a background in 2D animation and has been a visual artist for as long as he could successfully write his own name. The blank canvas is just another portal to which his stories can be told. He compares his visual work to a mixture of the Mona Lisa and the cartoon strips of a newspaper. Robinson considers his works as a transmedia explosion. One moment he is scripting a film project, editing it down and rendering the completed composition and the next few moments he is illustrating on a 20x30 foam core board with acrylics and oil based markers while thinking of a cool animated sequence to go along with the painting. As of 2005, Robinson has won several awards through his film works, has lectured at major Universities/Art Venues, mentors up and coming artist and currently educates youth within the Baltimore City School System.
