Visual Art – Seattle

My foray into ceramics was unexpected. The path from consumer to creator was one of rediscovery. Having focused my educational and professional career in the healthcare field, I did not have a chance to explore my creative interests until I moved to Shanghai, China from Canada a few years ago. At first, I turned my attention to photography and graphics design; but after getting my hands dirty in clay, there was no turning back. When I returned to North America, I sought out the opportunity to continue working in clay and eventually joined the Kirkland Arts Center as a resident ceramic artist. These days, I spend most of my spare time elbow-deep in clay. Ceramics as a medium is engaging through its radical hands-on transformative process and infinite possibilities. I love being on the creative journey and am fascinated by the transformation that takes place not only externally on the created but also internally within the creator.
