Originally hailing from Florida, now based in Boulder, CO - Benny Loco makes electronically produced music equally indebted to hip-hop and experimental musical traditions. Having spent the majority of his musical career working as a drummer in various capacities - Loco endeavors to construct swinging head nod rhythms augmented with curious percussion and unexpected instrumentation. His compositions are often ethereal, semi-ambient, textured, and highly melodic.
In the live setting, Benny Loco's compositions burst with life and the range of sound varies as the most casual beat can quickly and unexpectedly evolve into a high energy foray. Often collaborating with classically trained cellist Ravenna Michalsen, Benny Loco brings a degree of subtlety and thoughtfulness rarely experienced at a modern electronic performance.
