Visual Art – Los Angeles

I created the art of BellaGemaNails with the idea of fusing two things I love-- intricate 3D nail art and jewelry design. Bella Gema is Spanish for beautiful gem. This name perfectly describes my creations and who I am as an artist. I do not set, sculpt nails or use any acrylic powders. I hand paint, design and bejewel. I use various nail colors, charms, beads, pearls and rhinestones to perfect each set. My nail designs resemble the look of charms from a bracelet, necklace, pendant and/or earrings. They are shiny, dramatic and colorful. I have created a design technique that allows you to shine in any light. I can see a picture of something that captures my creative eye and automatically convert that image into a nail theme. The art of 3D nails is over a decade old. I didn’t create the art- I simply made it my own. Designing is a labor of love; one that brings me tremendous joy- nothing like seeing faces light up and eyes widening at first glance. I love the creative process of it--from sketching a concept to seeing its completion. The tiers of design I create are carefully thought-out, very much like a puzzle. It all starts with nail lacquer, comes together with the charms, and the rest is history! I am deeply intrigued and inspired by different cultures, religions and traditions. From Dia De Los Muertos (Day of The Dead) celebrated in Mexico and other countries-- to the beautiful and elaborate attire of East Indian brides. My passion for nails is fueled by people, my travels, photography and art. “Even the smallest canvas can have great potential at being called a masterpiece.” –BellaGemaNails
