Visual Art – Calgary

I'm a Plains Cree artist from Saskatchewan, I moved to Calgary to pursue my career of making graphic novels. I study at the Alberta College of Art + Design, and I work within the Graphic Design department. Art has always been a big part of my life, ever since I was a little kid I was always drawing. Sometimes too much and I'd get in trouble at school. Art has been a way of illustrating my ideas and my stories since storytelling is a big part of my culture, I not only see myself as an artist but also as a storyteller. When I got older, I started to see my art making as an opportunity to get more involved with my culture, I also began to see it as a tool to help educate others on my culture and to share our stories. My art is mostly illustrative, although I've done graphic designs and posters for seminars and events. I deal mostly with character designing, but I'm very flexible and can adapt to whatever project I am given.
