Visual Art – San Jose

My name is Miguel Machuca. I am 36 years old and I was born and raised Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico. After the tragic death of my father, Alejandro Machuca Cruz, I came to the United States in 1987, when I was 10 years old. Ever since I can remember, I have always been an artist. I have always had interest in colors, interesting concepts and exaggerated ideas and characters. After establishing myself as an artist in San Jose, I started working in volunteering with a non-profit organization called Catalyst For Youth and was acting director for Heart of Chaos; building programs for kids at risk. We began a program at the juvenile hall center in San Jose, teaching art to incarcerated youth. I also work with the Evergreen School District, teaching ABA (applied behavioral analysis) to kids diagnosed with Autism. I have been doing this for 16 years and counting. Now I am an active artist in San Jose contributing to this art scene that has been slowly but surely surfacing here in my home town. Any chance I get to collaborate with other up coming artists I take urn, fro small gallery shows , to charity benifits, to the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara.
