Visual Art – Tucson

Alejandra “Alexa” Orozco was born in Morelia, Michoacán Mexico in 1983. She lived in the Central Coast of California for 20 years before moving to Tucson, Arizona to attend the Southwest University of Visual Arts originally to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design. After taking a course in rendering techniques Alexa decided to add a minor in painting to learn the media. An avid interest and a love for painting caused her to switch her minor for a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Arts with an emphasis in painting. Alexa’s work has been frequently displayed in the Student Gallery and in several group shows in the Launch Box Gallery and the Florence Quater Gallery at the Southwest University of Visual Arts Tucson Campus. She also participated in a group show at the Dinnerware Artspace Gallery in Tucson and at Studio One for Bogdare’s Four Elements Show. In April 2012 Alexa was one of the artists featured in MENAGERIE, the artist showcase by RAW: Natural Born Artist. Alexa’s work has recently been displayed in the juried show CHOMP: A SHOW ABOUT COMESTIBLES at the University Club Phoenix for the Herberger Theatre Company’s 2012 Art Exhibition in Phoenix. In 2011 Alexa received a Student Gold ADDY and the Student Best of Show from the American Advertising Federation in Tucson, a Student Gold ADDY from District 12, and a Student Silver ADDY at the National level.
