Akia Deyvon

Performing Art – Philadelphia

Akia Deyvon is from Mt. Pocono Pennsylvania. He is a senior at Bloomsburg University graduating in December 2016 with a Mass Communications major and a dance minor. Akia has began dancing around the age of 9 due to inspirations from music videos. Videos from artists like Missy Elliott, Aaliyah, Michael Jackson, and Busta Rhymes has inspired him with their creativity, visuals, and choreography. Akia then began taking dance serious when he joined his hip-hop dance team in high school where he was the captain for 3 years. He started formally training in other genres such as ballet, jazz, modern, and lyrical when he began his dance minor program at Bloomsburg University freshman year. He has performed at World of Dance, worked with Koresh Dance Company, various amounts of dance competitions through the tri-state, hosts his own workshops and classes, instructor for the Millennium Dance Complex Philadelphia staff, and worked for many different upcoming recording artists as a choreographer/dancer or both. His biggest achievement in life thus far was accepting the $10,000 dance scholarship from Forever 21 in 2014 as it was a worldwide video submission competition. Dance is something he feels ready to take on the professional industry with. But most importantly for Akia, dance is something he wishes to inspire others through.
