Juan Sebastian Monroy

Hello, my name is Juan Sebastian Monroy, the self-proclaimed blob artist based in Waterloo, Ontario. Inspired by my fascination with the physicality of wet acrylic paint during my studies, I began experimenting with acrylic paint and polyurethane foam to sculpt vibrant blob creatures. Infused with a sense of wonder and whimsy drawn from mythology, cartoons, and anime, my work embodies the unpredictable essence of creation. Guided by the Ancient Greek concept of "kitsis," meaning "creature" and derived from "ktiso," meaning "to create," my installations invite viewers to experience evolving narratives through dynamic forms and immersive colours. My work transcends conventional boundaries, blending fine art with elements of fantasy and imagination. Through vibrant and dynamic creations, I invite them to explore the limitless possibilities of my Blob universe.
